This is an early 19th century pub, rebuilt in 1940 by A. E. Sewell, inhouse architect for Truman’s; two of their magnificent ‘eagle’ motifs can be seen to the parapet.
The first – and last – time I came here was in May 2016 so can’t remember it well. It’s no longer part of the Taylor Walker empire, now a Greene King outlet, opposite Euston station, on slightly seedy Eversholt Street. It’s typical of GK pubs, with lots of sports screens and a generally transient customer base. What is of interest though, are the very fine examples of marquetry and parquetry, one of a sailing ship to the right wall, then Art Deco motifs flanking a fireplace in the left-hand bar; lovely.
GK beers, then a couple of pumps double clipped with Lilley’s cider, me going for the Portobello Star at a troubling £3.00 a half, served by an unmemorable barmaid; diacetyl as hell, I left it to go for the welcoming pastures of the King Charles I down the road.
The Art Deco finery is worth sticking your head round the door, but otherwise it’s best avoided.

Very busy pub right next to Euston station. Ok to kill a little time waiting for your train but I couldn't spend too long in here! 4 ales on when I called at the end of a long day. I can't recall the beers but the one I had was fine. With the proximity of the station there is a real mix of customers in varying states of intoxication! We got a table on the street outside and were rewarded with a fine view of a full on fight between 2 middle aged drunken women! Classy!

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Royal George

Although I used to work nearby a few years ago, I hardly ever used to visit as there were always groups of rather unsavoury-looking characters hanging about. However, I am now back in the area, and the place looks rather more appealing, with a smarter appearance both inside and out (and the hanging baskets certainly help). Staple-shaped bar with some interesting features if you look closely (and the building is Grade II listed). Nowadays a Greene King house, with IPA, Abbot and Yardbird plus Wandle and Portobello's seasonal Home Turf Pale (£5.50) available from five of the six handpumps on this call.
