A real Greene King horrow show.It has an L shaped interior and feels large. The flatscreens were blaring the Six Nations while the mindless hip hop soundtrack was turned up to 11.And this was 5pm !.Very busy inside with the usual mix of high tables and dining type tables, the entrance to the first floor dining area and bar was being watched over by bouncers, who from this elevated position could watch proceedings in the tap room. There are some original features at the back of the pub with good cornising and door screens in dark wood but unloved.
A Sambrooks Junction clip was reversed leaving just GK Abbott,IPA and London Glory (NBSS 1.5,far too cold, tastless caramel sugar water with some added industrial alcohol).
Just don't bother,it's awful.

A first in here the other night, having passed it thousands of times throughout my life, and I doubt I can add much to that below. This is a typical Taylor Walker outlet dating back to 1735 but rebuilt in very modern times. Surprisingly, despite its footie bent, it's actually better than your average TW by-the-numbers haunt, attracting transients, tourists and students from the nearby Westminster University.
A beer patio out front overlooks Marylebone Road's thundering traffic; inside it's typical TW with games machines and TVs.
Ales: Greene King's IPA and London Glory, Belhaven's Robert Burns Brown Ale and Taylor Walker's 1730 at a touristy £4.60 a pint and ok as far as 1730 is ever going to get.
The Volunteer up the road is vastly superior and even Greene King's sister pub, The Allsop Arms over the way is better.
I don't envisage a return visit.

Taylor Walker pub opposite Baker Street tube with a reputation as being a footy fans hang-out during the season. Indeed I only ended up in here due to the Spoons being rammed as a Tube load of my fellow Wembley-bound Gasheads had disembarked two minutes before my arrival. Looked quieter over here and I soon found out why, with a pint of cider and a pint of Trumans Runner clearing me out of nine quid - someone here was racketeering. Other ale choices were all fairly mainstream (I think Marstons New World was the only other I might have been tempted by). Bar the attractive black and gold continental illustrations on the façade, there isn’t a huge amount to recommend it and the Metropolitan over the road is superior in almost every aspect – the Globe only beats it by having an outside drinking area.
