A lunchtime visit found four of the five handpumps in operation with Timothy Taylor Landlord, Salopian Shropshire Gold, Dark Star Hop Head and Orkney Brewery Dark Island Dark Ale available and apparently the fifth was a Rudgate Brewery Mild that had just gone. Fortunately spotted the sign for a CAMRA discount on the ales before presenting the plastic. Tried three of the four and they were all in good nick, especially the Salopian Gold.
It is a bit of a dark pub internally, but no problem on a sunny mid day and a jovial lunch time crowd were in. Went for a couple of the sandwiches which were very good also.
Good to find this still a decent pub and can envisage coming hee more ofton, especially as Drummond Street has become a mini Brick Lane with all its available Indian Restaurants.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Crown & Anchor
An unbranded M&B (Castle) pub with a 'L'-shaped bar, located a few minutes walk from Euston Station, and most notable for being very dark inside (although the lighting seems to have improved a bit since my last visit five years ago). However, it does have windows that can be opened up in good weather and makes the interior much more inviting. Restrained but fairly transient atmosphere. Disappointingly, just Oakham Citra and the Adnams / Sierra Nevade Eastern Edge collaboration (£5.90) available from two of the five handpumps, with Landlord, Rev. James and Northern Monk's Eternal either having finished or on next, depending on how you interpret the little labels hanging in front of the clips.

My first visit to the Crown and Anchor was back in January 2009 when I had a decent pint of Black Sheep. However, I found the dimly lit interior depressing and the strange smell wafting around to be nauseous.
Having fast forwarded almost nine years I am pleased to announce that I had a much better experience during a recent Wednesday lunchtime visit. The lighting is still a bit dim and I found the imposing painting of the two women sat on a sofa with shotguns to be mildly disturbing. However, the atmosphere was much friendlier and the service polite. There are no televisions and there was no background music.
The bar supports five hand pumps and a premium keg range that includes two offerings from Camden Brewery, Amstel and Peroni. The food is a mix of traditional and gastro mains that range from £10 - £15. There is also an expensive “posh sandwich” menu and children are catered for.
Out the front on the path are a few picnic tables that I imagine get busy during the summer months. This place is a little too food led for my liking, but I enjoyed the traditional décor and friendly atmosphere so I would return if passing.
