A modernised not-quite-on-a-corner-but-feels-like-it pub with a pastel colour scheme and various arty prints round the walls, possibly appealing to a clientele once described as "cosmopolitan" in some circles. Three handpumps offered a tolerable TT Boltmaker and something else in the process of being changed, with line cleaning mandated - always a good sign.

Visited the Duke of Wellington on a recent Friday afternoon when all of the picnic tables on the path outside were being used, but I was the only customer inside this small rectangular pub. The bar counter is on the rear wall and banquette seating runs along the front and right. The bar supports three handpumps, but only Pedigree was available alongside a premium keg selection. To the right of the bar is a sideboard with cutlery etc., although I didn’t see any food advertised. The floor is wooden, the music is oldie and the décor is bland. This pub is almost as boring as the barman was bored. Saying that, he was actually very friendly. Meh.

Street Corner pub with a prominent maroon awning drawn down to give cover to a series of pic nic benches running below the frontage.
The interior also has a maroon theme,it's a sqaure room with a carved wooden ceiling ,other wood work and the bar picked out in the same colour.Bench seating in salmon runs around the walls, while the pictures are of rock royalty. There was a subtle but good soundtrack and food is a major draw here with a lot of punters eating but still drinker friendly.
The menu looked good with a median main around £15 smelling great. At the bar there are three handpumps but only two serving on my trip Marston's Pedigree and Purity Mad Goose (NBSS 3.5,tasty and served in a correct glass).
The three women running the place were friendly ,chatty and not unattractive which always helps.Better than I expected ,worth a stop for a decent pint.
