Odd little wedge-shaped building that stands proud as one of the few surviving pre-war constructions in an area of constant re-generation. It’s not as old as I thought however - as it’s Brewer’s Tudor exterior and the construction dates from 1933. Not without its merits inside though, a small whack-through olde worlde bar and a more modern separate room off right. The leaded and stained windows from its WM Younger days are great and well-worth a nose and if you get your eye in you'll see hop bines carved into the wooden beams and uppers. Yet another Greedy King house in the locale and much like a couple of theirs I did that day, most of the cask was off and I ended-up with a hazy and sub-par GK Wolfpack Sesh (NBSS 2) at a ludicrous £3.80 for a half; the pub made the 2016 Good Beer Guide but it’s woefully short for a re-entry anytime soon. Shame it's not a Sam's pub as it feels like that’d be its true home. Could and should be a minor classic but at present it’s only worth a quick half in order to have a quick look around. 5.5
