On a street corner in tourist central Neal Street, the external floral display is probably the high point, the interior is sparse and dull.Basically a square room with dining style tables around the periphery and a staircase to the dining area and loos. The bar runs along a side wall with the pumps offering two ciders,London Pride,Southwark LPA and a decent TT Landlord (NBSS 3.5). Some care is taken with ale conditioning, but that's a pedestrian choice which can be found regularly in central London.
It can get quite hectic, and the ground floor is suited to drinkers with lots of standing room but not much in the way of interesting features, more a functional drinking hole despite the friendly staff.
All too predictable, not on the list for a revisit.

A good solid West End pub which suffers a bit from the huge popularity of the area but is ok at quiet times. The main room is downstairs, with a dining room upstairs, all in good traditional style. Draught ales were Doom Bar, Atlantic, Landlord, Twickenham Grandstand and something unreadable from London Brewing.

Located in the same street as Neal’s Yard Dairy, this was a first in here the other night.
The pub dates back to at least the mid-19th century but is early Edwardian, being rebuilt in 1904. The first thing you notice are the rare Meux’s and Reid’s ceramic cartouches to the ground floor. Inside, the bar’s to the rear and it’s a bit wooden but how original I don’t know, but I don’t think it dates back to 1904. Furniture is mixed, the crowd young and the music a little loud.
Ales: the awful Sharp’s Doom Bar and Atlantic, Fuller’s London Pride, Twickenham’s Naked Ladies, Sambrook’s Wandle and Southwark Brewing Co’s London Pale Ale at a very agreeable £2.30 a half and very good it was too.
As far as CG goes, this is one of the better pubs and I’d have no real reservations about making a return visit.
