Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Pitcher & Piano
Just what you would expect - quite a smart bar but almost wholly devoid of atmosphere. Housed in the lower part of quite a substantial building, just along Kingsway from the similarly converted All Bar One, Belgo, Cafe Rouge and Wetherspoons (Shakespeare's Head). The place has a jumble of columns which makes the seating layout rather awkward, but there is also an upstairs balcony area with a small bar (rarely open) and some quieter seating (although this is frequently closed off for private hire). Lots of premium lager fonts, but if you look carefully at the left hand end of the bar there are two handpumps usually offering Pedigree plus something like EPA or a Marstons seasonal. If you have to go, lunchtime is probably best as the music is too loud in the evening and everybody just ends up shouting...

Strongers . left this review about Pitcher & Piano
This is an unremarkable Pitcher and Piano, but I was expecting nothing more. Staropramen, Hoegarden, Pedigree keg and bog standard lagers are all available. My pint was a short measure, but I didn't ask for it to be topped up as I couldn't wait to leave.
There is a big projector screen at the back and some gallery seating upstairs. Any noise seems to be amplified through the building making the general chatter of the other customers sound like a full blown riot.
There is some seating on the pavement outside where I managed to escape to.
Not somewhere I'll be heading off to again in any great hurry.
