A long time since I last visited here but as mentioned below there has been no discernible change over the last couple of decades, prices aside. The splendid interior is certainly worth half an hour of anyone's time to absorb, less so the usual beers to be found in a Sam Smiths pub. There was a steady stream of non drink buying tourists just taking pictures, the girls behind the bar seemed unmoved by the activity, I'm not sure Humphrey would be so languid should he venture down south.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Cittie of Yorke
First revisit for 12 years, but - apart from the steep increase in prices - nothing seems to have changed (which is just as it should be for a landmark Samuel Smith's pub like this). The main baronial hall bar can seem a bit cavernous when it's not crowded (however this is not usually a problem in the early evening...), but it's worth a visit at any time just to look at the interior. On this visit, I was on the hunt for the rarely produced 8% Yorkshire Stingo (£8.00) that thankfully sat on the handpumps next to the regular cask OBB.
