New owners, same ethos. 2x Oakham, Grainstore Tenfifty and Rebellion Roasted Nuts on the go, served-up by friendly staff. Rammed to capacity on Friday evening which attests to its quality. I worked my way through all the beers as I was Regional CAMRA POTY judging and found the quality to be top-rate – NBSS 3.5, 4, 4, 4.5. Upped to a rounded 10 - I didn't want to leave. 9.5

Lovely traditional pub in view of the church spire and Grade II listed. A simple interior that’s been fairly unmolested over time, features include a bit of taxidermy dotted around and the bar area even has a shooter on the mantlepiece. The layout encourages interaction (see the picture of the padded bench seating laid out in an oval). Great locals here who were really friendly and loved the Rutland Pub Challenge, poring over our list and ratings. We enjoyed ourselves so much we played a well-deserved joker. Three ales on, 2x Grainstore (both in good shape) and Oakham JHB (very good). An absolute cracker of a village local, long may it remain this way. Rated 9
