We visited family in Spalding last weekend and on the Friday night we walked from Little London to this "Hungry Horse" pub through a moderate monsoon. It has recently been refurbished apparently in a sort of modern traditional style with tables and chairs, as well as "booths" formed by high backed bench seats facing each other, with a rectangular table in between. The whole effect was very pleasing and the staff were friendly and helpful. The Green King IPA was the Real Ale of choice and surprisingly was only £2.25 a pint. The Speckled Hen had unfortunatley run out, but the choice of food was very good and reasonably priced. The only slightly negative comment is that at our table on the wall at the end there was a small flat screen television with no sound, (thank goodness), playing a loop of someone in a car being stopped by police and then someone on a motorcycle being stopped. Makes a change from pop videos I suppose.
