Very popular pub with the locals. Serves good basic pub food but only up until 8 pm on weekdays (Mon - Thurs) and only until 6 pm at weekends (Fri/Sat/Sun). Guest ales changed fairly frequently. No children allowed on premises after 9 pm and prior to that, they must be with an adult and eating a meal.

Medium sized town centre pub knocked into one room, but still retaining some character, with a central bar, a roaring fire in the front right corner, a games area with pool and darts behind the right of the bar, claret wallpaper, beams and white ceiling. Amongst the drinks, three hand pulls offered John Smiths, Bombardier, and Bateman’s Rosey Nosey – I had a good pint of the Batemans – and many pump clips around the bar and ceiling showed a wide variety of guest ales having been drunk here. On my visit it seemed to have a healthy and mixed crop of local clientele, and it came across as a well run establishment.
