Classic middle-aged owners who run it as a freehouse and live upstairs, hence the 5pm opening - you’ll need the Louth Nipper to get you here and back in time for a sensible bus back to Grimsby. Tidy place inside, spick and span like your mum’s house and done in a cosy modern way. Downside is that it faces the wrong way from the sun so the inside was a bit gloomy at 5.05pm on a late April afternoon and it feels like somewhere that doesn’t get going until later on as I was the only punter until a couple turned-up who had just moved into the area. Three stagers at the bar in Pride, Rev James and Bass, the latter of which was a bit long in the tooth (NBSS 2.5). The local CAMRAs like it and its GBG listed. 6.5
