A Craft Union town pub so much as expected, screens and machines aplenty and of course piped music, a range of national favourites at bargain prices, punters without volume controls. I originally didn’t spot the two pulls lurking between the middle two (of four) T-bars, a vinegar Abbot and a Theakstons Best, best not tried. Usual low end low strength selection of kegs including the John Smiths Smooth. Probably an old pub but little remains in the layout never mind the detail. A broadish front bar with the counter stretching back into the opened out / extended rear as in so many cases, with darts and a pool table housed back there. To be fair the front bar does retain a little old world charm. Not really much you can say about this kind of pub, the locals like them so it works for Stonegate and the punters if not for the poor buggers running them. At least it’s an open pub.
