This village inn has been a victim of the modern fad for grey paint on pubs. Compare my photos taken in 2015 and at the time of my recent visit - it now looks scruffy and neglected. This could make the potential customer think twice about going in, and quite possibly influenced my note made at the time, "inside it's fairly ordinary". On the other hand, quite possibly it's a fairly ordinary village pub. It seems to have been opened out into one long room with the bar at the left, and I was hoping for better having seen the two windows from outside (see photo) with a patio table and parasol with - you know what's coming - a bottle and a glass. On the bar were two fairly ordinary hand pumps with Purity Mad Goose and Timothy Taylor Landlord. I went for the latter, which turned out to be better than expected (NBSS 3.5).

Fantastic Village Pub. Recently taken over by Kate Williams. Is improving massively! I recommend you give it a try!

I like it! My team and I 'The Grumpy Old Men' attend the weekly quiz of a Monday evening, when we enjoy a few pints, some excellent fodder and the company of the locals. Always a fun-filled evening on Mondays at 9.00 pm.
I called Friday lunchtime while cycling to take the photos on the right. A pint and a chat with Richard and Kate while a group of ladies were having their usual Friday lunch. They seemed happy and were booking for Christmas lunch.
