Old Boots left this review about Blue Pig

A mediaeval half timbered building in a street of Georgian and older buildings in the heritage area near St Wulfram's church, with six pumps it ticks a few Camra boxes so you’ll not be surprised that it’s in the GBG 2025. The choice of cask was less interesting than the building with London Pride and Proper Job on, a sweet brown bitter, but well kept, from Hogs Back, a flavoured porter from Titanic and a hoppy beer from Rat brewery. The last pump had a reversed Landlord clip.

Inside there’s a central servery serving three small rooms, the pulls are in the middle one with just the kegs on the two longer faces serving rooms to right and left. There’s at least one more space up a few steps at the back, each space seems to have a screen which combined with the competing music rather spoils the atmosphere. What decor there is on the, possibly unoriginal, half timbered walls appears to be Sky Sports and corporate ads, apart from enough fairy lights to light up a small airport. Toilets are downstairs next to an unexplored beer garden.

Strongers . left this review about Blue Pig

The Blue Pig has a large U-shaped counter on the right-hand wall that supports standard and premium keg as well as six hand pumps that were drawing TT Landlord, London Pride, Adnams Broadside, St Austell’s Proper Job, Butcombe Gold and Robinson’s Trooper. This counter breaks the pub up into three sections where it serves a front seating area where a dart match was in progress, seating up the left in what would probably be considered the main bar and a rear bar where it’s mostly standing room, although at the rear steps lead up to some additional seating. I missed the hand pumps as I entered so ended up ordering a pint of Fosters which was only £2.80 a pint. It was busy, especially for a Tuesday evening, so I retreated to the raised seating at the rear where I noted lots of fairy lights across the old ceiling beams throughout the pub. There was some background music playing and Sky Sports is advertised, although I don’t recall any televisions being on. This place has the feel of a popular local’s boozer and I liked it so would return.

Better externally than internally, this is a very old building just off the main drag. There are a series of seperate sections inside, with a rear lounge with it's own bar access and two side sections away from the main bar.You can circumnavigate the bar using the rear corridor. However the decoration was functional at best with little character,a missed opportunity.
The ale range on my visit was "Courage" Directors,Black Sheep Bitter,St Austell Tribute (NBSS 3),Maston's Pedigree ,Old Speckled Hen and a Olde Rosie cider.A rather boring selection of national ale brands and no Locales implies pubco ownership dictating ale choice which wouldn't be enough to warrant a return visit.Could be so much better.
