The Witham also goes by the name Rancho Grill and is an odd mix of sports pub and family restaurant. By the entrance is a stool lined U-shaped serving counter with a pool table and televisions that were airing cricket via TNT Sport to the right. In here some locals were sat drinking at the bar with some grilled chicken. The larger left-hand side of the pub has a couple more televisions that were muted in favour of some background music and open plan seating that sits between the counter and shell shaped booths that run across the front windows and up the left-hand wall. Steps at the rear lead down to two more seating areas that are used for dining, and presumably private functions. To be honest the food smelt amazing so I wasn’t surprised when diners, mostly teenagers with their parents, started arriving at the end of my midweek late afternoon visit. There’s no cask so only standard and premium keg were available. This isn’t somewhere I’d go just for a drink again, but I’d try the food if I find myself in Boston at dinner time. Rated as a drinking venue.

Recently reopened and retaining The Witham name but branded as Rancho Grill yet used as a drinking venue mainly by the young.Keg only and there are tables on a front terrace but only limited views of the River Witham.Good car parking for customers.Bouncer on the door on a Friday evening.
