Was closed on my Bank Holiday Monday visit with blinds pulled down on all windows. I was informed that it had finally re-opened following lockdown on the Friday. But hours seem to be very inconsistent for now.

Arriving in Melton on a train at 12:30ish, I had hoped to do this one first, as WhatPub and Facebook assured me it would be open. However, there was no sign of life. When I was in the Crown at 3.15 the lass serving assure me that the Noel was usually open around 2 or 3; it was open when I left the Crown, which was good news as I had two others to fit in before my train at 4.30. The front door says "welcome home", which is a nice touch. There's a lot of black about this pub, but I also got a friendly greeting from behind the bar as I went in. The owner is enthusiastic about real ale, customer service and being part of a community. We chatted about all those, and especially the latter: he wants to see local people use all the pubs in Melton more than they do now. Much better to be out and about than stuck at home with Netflix and a takeaway.
The beers on here were all from local Belvoir brewery, though he does use others such as Grainstore; he tells me dark beers always do well. I went for Beaver (to rhyme with Belvoir) and Dark Side, both in very good condition. This is definitely one to return to.

The Noel's Arms is an old corner pub and music venue that consists of a single wooden floored room with a couple of dart boards, a pool table and a stage for the music events. There was a TV screen towards the rear that was playing music videos from the 1960s. It was quiet on my Saturday afternoon visit.
The bar has six hand pumps which had two unused, Doom Bore and Belvoir White Knuckle Ride, Beaver & Star. I tried the White Knuckle Ride and Beaver (both £3.10) which were tasty and excellent. I was told that they no longer do CAMRA discount here but the prices were cheaper than other local pubs apart from the JDW.
I quite liked this place and got the impression it is still being renovated but I would avoid it on music nights.
