Back street community focused pub boasting two bars. Off the entrance vestibule doors lead left to a sports/public bar with a pool table and piped music. On the right a neat lounge bar, the central servery looks after both bars. The public bar has three pulls; Bass, Tribute and Wells’ Brewpoint Anchorman plus Weston's cider and Cruzcampo on a twin, Amstel on a solo. Two more pulls in the games bar with the Anchorman again and another Wells beer plus more similar kegs. Furnishing is a bit mixed with banquettes and a pew at smaller wooden tables and ex chapel chairs or upholstered chairs on the room side of the tables. The walls are in lighter tongue & groove with dark grey above enlivened by vibrant wallpaper on a chimney breast. There is a screen and the decor is a mix of old photos, watercolours and a nice Victorian map of the locale, there are a few of the homely touches that suggest long term residence by the licensees. Toilets to rear on the way to the garden. Probably my favourite of the pubs in the town.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Admiral Nelson

The exterior of this side-street pub has been given a fresh look both outside and within the two-room interior featuring all the usual amenities. As a Wells & Co house, it was no surprise to find Anchorman on one of the three handpumps on the main part of the bar counter, with the Half the World Away amber ale as another Brewpoint beer and Bass as a guest. Later on, I also noted Tribute on another pair of handpumps around the corner. Friendly welcome.

A traditional two bar pub a short way from the main town and feeling quite the backstreet boozer with a chatty landlady to boot. Two Brewpoint beers plus Bass, I tried the Brewpoint Anchorman which was ok without being particularly notable in any way which seemed to be a theme in this town generally.
A nice pub that would benefit from slightly more interesting beer but a worthy stop off all the same.
