Feels like a Craft Union. Blandly decorated (if comfy enough) a bit like drinking in a mushroom though the old 1920s sunburst porch door is very nice. There was a smell of piss from the bogs like a Cross Country train, lovely. Very dull keg so a middling Guinness. Barmaid friendly enough and the old boys watching the gee-gees on the big screen were fine. It's right by the buses so if you're absolutely wanting a quick pint before trundling off elsewhere then it's here, there are worse places in town. 4.5

An interesting facade but a very dull modernised sports pub inside. No cask ale and only a basic keg selection, e.g. my John Smith's (£1.60, half).

The Loughborough Arms is a large single roomed pub that is broken up by some supporting walls in the centre of the room. In the front left is a tile floored seating area before the serving counter that runs up the left-hand wall to the rear. The right side of the pub is carpeted with seating and a DJ booth for the regular weekend events at the front and a pool table and dartboard to the rear. Racing TV was muted on the televisions throughout while some background music played that was thankfully a bit more upbeat that the last couple of pubs I’d visited. Standard keg was available alongside Birra Moretti so I plumped for half a Fosters, but the larger than life landlady talked me into having a pint seeing as it was only £3.10. She then proudly showed me around her garden, it was very tidy having just had some money being spent on it… to add some astroturf, booth seating and patriotic murals. This is a friendly down-to-earth pub, but the lack of anything of interest to drink means that I’ll not be returning.
