Surprisingly jumbo Everards place. Pair of nice rooms off left with a non-functioning bar. Sideways right into the main bar with herringbone block flooring and a slightly unusual brown and rusty red colour scheme; large, open plan and a bit stark. Down some steps to a wood and glass area leading onto a whitewashed brick restaurant with a grassed garden behind. To the left there also a significant patio garden in what I took to be an old stabling area, replete with an olive tree. Four Everards ales on the pumps, Tiger and Original plus a couple of small batch. My Tiger was good (NBSS 3.5) though much like the general locale weighed in at closer to 6 quid than 5. Terrible bedwetting music and a cash-only bar were negatives. Is apparently managed by former cricketers Stuart Broad and Harry Gurney, says CAMRA. 6.5

Pretty, unspolit village pub with good 'feel' to it. Hasn't yet been turned into a gastropub like many in the area. Food good and beer always well kept.
