Set back from the main road behind a large front garden, this one is a bit more pubby than the two pubs nearby though it's still food-foremost. Inside has been glooped in an overbearing dark green. Two serveries in the two rooms, ale is off right in the smaller bar area. There's also a nice grassed front garden. Surprised to see four on and a fairly eclectic choice in 2x Charnwood, Two By Two and TTL. My Charnwood Vixen was really rather good (NBSS 4) though with the price of a half doubled-up then it’s over over 6 quid which appears normal in the locale – are they running a cartel? Spotted an ‘up next’ board with Shiny and Verdant listed, so someone is trying hard to get the ale trade in. Also a better-than-usual keg selection as well. Would be tempted to alight here again. 6.5

I called in here in 2019 when there were three beers on multiple hand pumps: Doom Bar, plus Greene King Scrum Down (it was February, so rugby themed) and Adnams Lighthouse. It was quite busy because of half term holidays, so families dining with their children. The Doom Bar was "not very good" according to my notes made at the time.

Well used village centre pub,nice location,nice looking property.Large beer garden to the front,and plenty of parking.Very busy with food,booking advisable.Nice interior well kept beers,this is a pub used by locals and visitors alike.
