A former manor house now a modern and large Marstons foody pub which is failing to compete with the nearby Bull judging by the attendances at both venues. There is a drinkers area off left with pool and darts. Bar was World Cupped with bunting plus a load of domestic football team flags on the ceiling. You can tell how corporate it is because they're all the standard big Prem teams and a token Leicester City one. Some sort of sub F1 racing on the telly to an audience of nil. Three cask on, defaulted to Pedigree and got a surprisingly decent half (NBSS 3). So a little better than expected, which does seem to be a theme for Leicestershire corporate pub eateries.

Looks like they've divided it up a bit since AW's visit, but it remains a formulaic Marston's family dining pub. We remained in the deserted bar area, despite the lack of any normal height seating, as the dining bit had a large party from whom we didn't want to catch covid. If I actually had got covid it might explain why the Brakspears bitter was completely devoid of flavour.
It is what it is. I can't think of any pressing reason to revisit.

The White Horse is a large modern looking pub that is set back from the main road through Broughton Astley.
Once inside there was one very large room that was quite smart and comfortable,most of the tables were laid out for diners but there was a seating area near the entrance for drinkers.
This pub is a Marstons house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Pedigree and this was a decent drink the other beer was a seasonal called Wicked Witch.
This pub is a family dining type pub but as a drinker i was made just as welcome.
