Modernish Everards place (‘rebuilt in about 1970 as the Spanish Blade’, says CAMRA). Discombobulating on entry as you hit something resembling a garden centre cafeteria; the bar is in another room off left. Again, it's like having a bar in a garden centre with fauna and a pitched roof ceiling, fairly pleasant though geared-up mainly for diners and gentlefolk. Surprised to see two Everards cask on, Tiger (NBSS 3.5) and one of their small batch brews. Odd place but better than initially expected, it’ll linger in the memory and I wouldn’t be averse to popping in again.

The Royal Oak looks like an 80s built pub and it is set back and and lower than road level.
There was one largish square room inside with the bar facing and another room to the right which said restaurant and this was empty.
The pub was very busy with mainly older drinkers and there were lots of tables and normal chairs in the main room, this pub is an Everards tied house and there were four real ales on the bar i had a drink of Everards Tiger bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beers were Everards Beacon bitter and Original and a guest beer from Fullers called Gales Seafarer.
I thought this was a decent enough pub and it was good to see a pub busy with drinkers at dinnertime.
