Dull gloomy Marstons pub that looks like the blood river from The Shining has gone through it. Presumably aimed at the weekend crowd given the vibe. Two cask on, a musty and warm Pedigree (NBSS 1.5) was what I got, alongside a Wainwright. I also did not see the stuffed bear. Depressing place.

Marstons pub. Ancient and detailed in the book "Britains Strangest Pubs"

What makes it strange? Apparently there was a bear pit somewhere inside and there is a large stuffed bear on the premises. I asked if it was still here and told it was. I then couldn't find it. But then again, I was thrown by the Covid one way system marking and always found myself going the wrong way.

On the subject of covid - i was asked to scan a QR code to register myself. No problem with this, but the web page had not finsihed loading by the time I had finished my half a lemonade :-)

It was either that or hobgoblin.

And checking my bank after the visit - when was half a lemonade - that mainly a glass of ice cubes £2.30?
