Looks like two buildings smooshed together, an olden interior left side (the 1598 bit, presumably) and newer right side, separated via ‘Devils passageway’. Main bar has blue and white colours with a traditional varnished servery and an adjoining traditional display case alongside modern stylings such high tables. Music selection mainly from 2000-onwards. Surprised to see four cask ales on over five pumps - three Taylors and Pedigree- with my TT Blonde being perfectly serviceable (NBSS 3). Also noted half a dozen Lilleys ciders in the fridge. Cobs available for £3.50, another surprise. Someone is clearly making an effort here and I’ll pop by again.

Attractive old pub in the High Street. Bulls Head ale, Abbots, Bass, Holden's Golden Glow and Amber Ales Barnes Wallis available when I called in. I tried the latter which was fine. Friendly service. I would happily call again.

One of the oldest buildings in Ashby dating back to 1598, which is evident when you view the original exposed timbers in the front snug on the left of entrance, pity about the garish red painted walls. The main bar is situated on the right, which is a decent size, hosting a long oak bar and exposed brick wall behind the bar.
The pub extends back to a good sized mid-section with flat screen TV's and a DJ box. Along a further corridor brings you out to a rear patio area.
A disappointing array of ales on handpump on our visit, GK IPA, Abbott and two Pedigree.
