Typical country pub, with a large car park and consequent reliance on customers who are eating rather than drinking. We were staying nearby at Mankinholes hostel, so just called in for an evening drink. It was gone 9pm, so we were the only customers on a damp Sunday evening. When I asked if there was any part of the pub where it was possible to avoid the pop music on the sound system, they offered to turn it off, which gains a mark. Beers available were mostly blond and bland: Timothy Taylor Landlord and Golden Best, Robinsons Dizzy Blonde and Bank Top Flat Cap. I had the latter which was in good condition and went down a treat, so that my partner changed from her initial Landlord for her second.

My Wife and I have had a couple of evening meals here and they have been cooked to perfection. In fact I went for a meal only last month on my Birthday and they gave me 10% off my bill which included drinks. If you enjoy a well prepared meal at a reasonable price in warm and friendly surroundings, then this is the place for you.

Great Pub. Great Food. Great beer.
Try the specials board, have not had a bad meal yet and been loads of times.
Good pub food is hard to come by.
