Steve of N21 left this review about The Eagle
Almost dead opposite The Swan on the High Street of Amersham Old Town the Eagle is a good looking brick built pub made all the more welcoming by being totally festooned with colourful hanging baskets and overflowing plant troughs.
Internally it still retains a traditional pub feel with a low beamed ceiling, flag stoned floor and brick fireplace. It looks like it was formerly a lounge room to the front and then the bar area beyond but now it is one internal space with just the original wall beams remaining to divide the double sided front seating area from the bar serving area beyond.
Then outback there is a very nice garden space with the River Misbourne running alongside which overlooks the Meadow beyond and has an entrance to the pub garden from the Common.
There are five pumps on the bar with four ale pumps and the other dispensing Addlestones Cloudy cider. Fuller's London Pride and Sharp's Doom Bar seemed to be the house beers, but then TT Landlord and Lock Keepers from the local Berkhamsted Haresfoot microbrewery were on as guests and both of these were tried and found to be well kept.
The pub was advertising a weekly quiz night on a board outside and appeared to host regular Saturday night music nights. Also provides free WiFi.
Nice attractive traditional pub in an old style old town high street.
