I popped into the White Lion just after 19:00 on a recent Monday to find the locals murdering some songs on the karaoke machine. The standard keg lined bar in the left rear corner faces seating to the left of the entrance and there are raised seating areas in the right front and rear, the latter of which was supporting the karaoke. Plasma screens for showing Sky Sports are located throughout, as are lots of anti-drug posters. This is a basic boozer that I will leave to the local’s when next in town.

Surprisingly this was quite fun on this afternoon visit. Loads of old blokes telling interesting stories before they fell asleep. Its not the best inside and its standard beer but it was ok.

This pub now has now reopened with a brand new landlord and landlady. I called in recently and the music was blasting out playing to a crowd of about six who were leaning on the bar totally uninterested in the music but having to shout to be heard when talking to someone 2 feet away. I’m not sure that this is what is needed here. The pub is a one roomed affair with a couple of separate raised areas. It always used to do well on the food side with the shoppers but I don’t know what they are doing food wise at the moment. It’s a pleasant enough looking pub but the music destroys it. There are 2 handpumps on the bar but no real stuff on, it’s probably going to be closed again soon, there’s just no reason to go in at the moment.
