The Roebuck is a long and thin Samuel Smiths pub with seating either side of the front entrance and a central tick shaped bar. At the rear is more seating and a dartboard. The usual SS products are available, including OBB for £1 a half. Picnic tables for smokers are found by the front and rear-side entrances. I didn’t find this pub to be that inspiring but standing in the alley under the leaded window reminded me of being in the backstreets of London.

A very spartan Sam Smiths pub. Hidden down a back alley from the main drag. All the varieties of Sam Smiths stuff to be found.

Sam Smiths pub hidden down an alleyway almost in the centre of town. It's still difficult to miss due to it's hideous external paint job though. It has two entrances, so it depends which way you enter. If you walk down the alleyway there’s a small lounge area to the right with slightly tired looking red settles around the walls. The main room to the left is opened up into two areas with a mixture of seating. The bar is quite impressive with old wood and glass, but sadly the choice on the bar is not so good. As mentioned it’s a Sam Smiths house but it’s all keg. Sams only do 1 real ale so I’m surprised this place doesn’t sell it really (or perhaps not). It’s an old fashioned working mans boozer and is even cheaper than the nearby JDW, it’s nowhere near as good though.
