The Windmill Tavern sits in the quiet village of Clifton, between Preston and Blackpool. The Windmill Tavern dates to 1778 and is reputedly the oldest windmill on the Fylde. The building is under new ownership and with an investment of £300,000 it has completely transformed this picturesque pub which is attached to the six storey Grade II-listed Clifton windmill with its exposed wooden beams, wooden floors, a wood burner into a traditional inn and restaurant. You can sit to eat and drink inside the windmill itself, which has an open fireplace for cold days. There is more than enough real ale to satisfy all. There is also private dining available in a secret room which can house up to 16 guests. The bar is open Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun opens 12 noon – Closed Wednesday. There is meals available Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri 12 noon - 8pm. Closed Wednesday. Saturday 12 noon -9pm and Sunday 12 noon -7pm. Mid-week lunch 12 noon -5pm, 1 course £6.50, 2 courses £10.00 and 3 courses £13.95. Mid-week 5pm -7pm two main meals for £15.00. There is also a Sunday carvery. There is also a beer garden next to the children’s play area. There is parking available at the rear of the Windmill along Church Lane.

I thought this village crossroads pub was top notch.Right from the unusual feature of being built into a windmill,to the well laid out interior design. There is a split level dining area, one of which is in the base of the windmill. There seemed a well stocked bar, with pleasant staff to serve you.We visited on a Sunday, when a carvery was in operation, which seemed to be attracting a fair amount of trade.Give it a go you wont be disappointed.
