Discovering this open on a lunchtime when it wasn't expected to be, so popped in to find a quite pleasant and fairly traditional pub with a beamed ceiling. Down one side is a rather cosy snug area with sofas and armchairs, while the other side had an extended area in what felt like a former garage. A drum kit and piano hinted at live music at some point., On handpump were Brakspears Gravity & Gold and Hobgoblin. It didn't seem too bad a place.

Situated just across the road from the Queen's Head, this was very much the inferior pub of the two.
As a former Brakspear pub, it is now owned by Marston's. Two real ales were on - Brakspear Oxford Gold & Hogs Back TEA. Old beams and fairly low ceilings give it a little character, but as with many other pubs in Wokingham, the Hope & Anchor was quiet and lacked atmosphere.

A one roomed low ceilinged Brakespears pub, the beer choice was ordinary and expensive,
Brakespear Bitter and Top Notch,Hobgoblin ,Hogs Back Tea and Deuchars IPA at £2.20 a half.
Not a great pub ,dropped a point on price.
