After recently visiting the newly refurbished 'Sirloin', wow- very impressive, they have kept lots of the old character and traditional style, yet brought the place to life. We had a range of six cask ales to choose from, (The place is a free house), the beer was kept perfectly. I noticed they have recently been awarded a cask marque accreditation! Which shows it its good!! Our food was great, we will be returning!

In August 1617 James I of England was staying half a mile up the road at Hoghton Tower. While dining there, enjoyed the loin of meat so much decided to 'Knight' it, and that was the origin of the pubs name.It is an old style pub with low ceilings, and stone fireplaces which house roaring log fires in the winter. At the rear there is a restaurant which does not interfere with the fine old character of the pub.Well worth a visit.
