Nice old pub in the busy and beautiful Croston village, hidden away behind its crowd-pleasing rival the Wheatsheaf. This is 100% a drinkers local and there were plenty of them in after work on a Friday. Traditional inside although knocked through, with sport screens but no music. A bit of a humdrum ale selection in Speckled Hen and the ubiquitous Wainwrights but the latter was decent. The front view of the pub has been ruined a little by an elaborate outdoor seating area on the former car park. But I think anyone would be happy enough with this as their local.
