Bucking Fastard left this review about Village Inn
Another change of management, this time on Friday 13th July 2012.The building is modern, the interior open plan with a couple of raised area with pine tables and standard chairs. The bar is set along a rear wall and curves around the standing area. The slatted blinds,so prevalent in poor quality bars, kept the interior gloomy and despite the sign of the door saying the pub would be the villagers local, only a few all day drinkers were found inside.
Four handpumps with one unused,CW Bombardier,Jennings Cumberland Ale and Caledonian Golden Son which was passably while not memorable. There were several T bars with the usual keg suspects.
The young barman was pandering to the profane ramblings of two drunks (I suspect his mates) about the merits or otherwise of Bob Marley by fiddling with the musak track until he found some more reggae,it was all a bit chaotic.
A sign by the door said there would be no food for two weeks while the kitchen was refurbed but there was still an A board outside advertising a full menu, very poor form.
On this showing I would expect the villagers to give Village Inn the cold shoulder.

Iain Dutton left this review about The Lord Lilford
Now under new management there are real positive signs that the Lord Lilford is returning to be a good traditional local pub with a good atmosphere and serving home cooked food.
