Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Greyhound Inn
As Ormskirk pubs go, this one has the most character of them all. The entrance corridor has a couple of rooms on the right-hand side and a couple on the left. The bar is found between the two on the left.
I chose to sit in the vault at the front where the handpulls can be found. Most locals were sat in the room to the rear, whilst electricity was being saved in the two rooms off to the right, where there were no lights on.
All of the handpulls were unclipped. However, a blackboard in the corridor revealed that two cask ales were in fact on - Theakston Best & Timothy Taylor Landlord.
The young barmaid was very friendly and professional. With no music or any forms of technology and with a cash only policy, this is very much a traditional pub in multiple aspects. Whilst it may not appeal to the large local student community, it is clearly popular with elderly locals. I enjoyed a visit here too. This one was right up my street as far as interiors go. If it had a more interesting beer selection, it could easily be the best in town.

a very traditional pub with several different rooms. a bar/snug by the left as you enter, two more to the right and then a main bar straight ahead with TV. No music, very rare in a non Sam Smiths pub these days! could do with a little more TLC but then again - would that ruin it? On a Friday evening it was mostly older locals coming in and it had the feeling of a soap opera pub. Chatty and friendly barmaid. Two ales on, Tetleys on one side of the bar and Wainwrights on the other. The Wainwrights was excellent on this occasion. Well worth a look in if you like either back street locals or unchanged traditional pubs.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Greyhound Inn
A very striking brick built traditional pub, with lots of good signage, so easy to spot. This pub has a multi roomed interior, with two front rooms, a second room further along on the right hand side and the main bar and lounge at the rear. We popped in on a Wednesday afternoon and the pub was empty. There was one handpump serving Theakston bitter, so slightly dubious about the condition. However their beer was outstanding and the glass was sparklingly clean.
The interior was very dated, however the roaring open fire in the back lounge and the friendly barmaid and decent beer made my visit worthwhile.
