Definitely not a single storey building. I'm always wary of Greene King pubs but don't let that put you off this place - it has an impressive 12 hand pulls offering 10 ales and 2 ciders. Of the ales, GK IPA, Old Speckled Hen and Robinsons Dizzy Blonde were the booby prizes but the rest were more interesting. My half of Sittin' On the Dock by Rock the Boat set me back £2.48 and was a pleasant dark mild.

This is a clean tidy pub and there was a smell of furniture polish or something on entering, the time of my visit would probably not have been long after opening. Lunch time Monday was fairly quiet with just a few old codgers in, with my appearance dramatically reducing the average age.

Music was playing at a sensible level, there is an umbrella borrowing station, and perhaps the hidden gem for hot weather is the sun trap outdoor seating area, complete with TV (not on at the time of my visit) and doggy "pale ale" water dispenser.

A decent pub and worth a visit.

Single storey pub, it says Greene King on the sign but inside there is a far wider choice on the 12 pumps, two with cider. A long single room with a small slightly separate room at the rear left housing a screen and the toilet entrances. Mainly exposed brick walls with a few pictures as decor, tile and parquet floors apparently showing where walls used to be. Banquette seating mostly, it’s even got a piano. Obviously a Camra favourite there’s a discount, awards and various leaflets.

Greene King pub that seems to be pretty much independently run. Cosy dimly lit alehouse interior with a nice calm feel, no TVs or electronic distractions, just some quiet modern indie background music. Food is offered and there are a few reserved tables. Overall it’s a pretty good place but I felt there were a few too many similar beers on. Is there really a need for so many bog standard national ales to be on at once? Is anyone really drinking Greene King IPA or Old Speckled Hen in here? My breakfast stout was only in fair to middling condition.
