I believe this place has offered real ale in the past, but it would seem I'd long missed that boat, by the time of my visit on a Monday evening in May 2026.

Caffrey's Black Stout was the most interesting looking option of a rather uninspiring keg line-up, and this turned out to be a poor choice, and possibly the most dull stout I've ever had.

Quiet, uncomfortably so, at the time of my visit. The pub is large and echoey (if that's a word!) with different sections. There is an upstairs area that I assume houses the function room.

Not great and I have no desire to return.

Large Victorian red brick pub. Multi-roomed with a central bar. Green and cream tiling decorating the walls and a central staircase by the bar. At least 4 rooms to sit in. There are 5 handpumps but sadly 4 had reversed clips and only Black Sheep was on. A nice traditional Victorian style pub.
