An impressive half-timbered building but the interior doesn't quite live up to it, a bit too tidy and food based - the pair of modern log burners in the middle set the tone. Friendly enough though and the food was good. It also seems to have extensive outside areas. Three handpumps offered Ghost Ship, which proved to be undrinkable but was rapidly replaced, a good London Pride and Old Rosie cider. Ok for eating at.

Large olde worlde pub, two rooms via central doorway, both served by a central bar. Plus points: low ceilings and beams plus central fire serving both bars. Bad points: Iffy 70s Artex walls, fake beamery, grubby fake flooring. Silent TV with golf showing. Six pumps spread over both bars with three on: Harveys Best (so-so), Pride, TT Landlord. They had run out lemonade (how do you run out of gunned lemonade??), so Desmond not happy. Overall I suppose it’s fair enough but is trading below potential in my view.

Seriously good looking pub laid back a fair way from the road that looks like it has got a fair bit of history when you walk inside.
Presumably separate rooms back in the day, it is now one open space but with a large see through brick fireplace which acts like a room divider separating the internal space into two distinct areas.
Although a high level of decor throughout I got the impression that the right hand side functions as more of a public bar set up , with a large tele for the sport in this area and this was where most of the after work crowd were indulging in some vertical drinking. Whereas the left hand side of the fireplace functions as more of a restaurant section, although it still supports bar stools allowing drinking only up the bar.
And in that respect there are three hand pumps on the bar and although I was led to believe one from Windsor and Eton brewery is usually on, only two were going with Adnams Broadside and Purity Mad Goose being available. The Mad Goose was a well kept pint but at a wallet hurting £4.10p.
I liked this pub and would have no qualms if it was my local. But there’s no chance I could afford it to be , unless someone starts paying me the type of wedge you need to be able to afford a gaff this close to the Thames..
