With The Castle now very much a restaurant rather than pub, this is Hornby's default local. A stone built village pub, it has been opened out into one long room, with the bar facing on entry. There is a games room to the rear at the left end of the bar - this is labelled the Ward Room, a hint that the pub's name derives as much from the Royal Navy as from the Charles II legend.

There are three hand pumps with Thwaites Bitter and Wainwright on, but Lancaster Bomber gone off and the new barrel not yet settled. We found a place by the fire and had a pleasant time here.
