Reform pub with a big recruiting banner – not one for the neutrals and I have to admit to feeling uncomfortable with it (true of any overt politics/non-local activism in a pub tbh). Three ales on, Bowness Swan Blonde (NBSS 3.5), Reedly Hallows Pendleside (3). If you ignore the politics then this one is a good bet for a pint, especially if you are up here for the football.

Surprisingly large place over two rooms. To the right side is the main bar via a carpeted raised area, past a darts runway and down to the servery and pool table. The lounge is to the left. Really surprised to see five cask on the go, and my Bowness Bay Swift Best was in decent form (NBSS 3) if getting on a bit - I only spotted one other cask being pulled during my mid-afternoon Saturday visit. Perfunctory service. I see that a few years ago this place was a local CAMRA award winner but it failed to make the 2023 GBG. A mixed crowd in situ from old to young, eaters to caterwauling singers. It's worth a look-in and I'd give it another go. A note to Syd Little spotters – he’s at the Steamer these days. Rated 6.5

The Strawberry Gardens was the best pub we found in Fleetwood. Being not far from the football ground, it gets quite busy on matchdays. We managed to beat most of the crowds after the match and secured a table in the bar area overlooking the pool table. There is a separate dining area/lounge if you turn left on entering.

Lancaster Blonde is the regular beer. Guests were Great Corby Eachy of Bassenthwaite & Signal Peak APA & Bowness Bay Swan Blonde & Steamer IPA. The Signal Peak APA was in fine form and in hindsight, we really should have stayed in here for a few more rather than trying more pubs further afield.

The Strawberry Gardens is cask marque accredited pub with a bistro. They also sell continental & world beers. The bistro used to be run by the comedian Syd Little & his wife, but they have moved over to The Steamer on Queens Terrace. The pub is a venue for the Annual Folk and Blues festival in September and holds a beer festival every year. The bar is open Fri - Sat: 11am – midnight, Sun - Thurs: 11am - 11pm. Meals are available Mon 5pm to 8pm, Tues-Thurs 12pm to 8pm, Fri-Sat 12pm to 9pm & Sun 12pm to 6pm. Entertainment is provided by having on Monday – Dominoes, Tuesday – Pool, Wednesday: Quiz Night which starts at 9pm, Thursday - Darts and Dominoes, Friday – Darts and for use at any time a pool table. There is parking at the rear & side of the building.
