The CAMRA website says that this pub is open until at least midnight between Monday-Saturday. It's own website, Facebook and Google suggest 11pm. To be on the safe side, we headed here before 11 (around 10:40) to find it in complete darkness with all doors closed. It's social media account suggests that it is still trading. But it is perhaps best to call ahead if trying to visit here.

Large pub which I guess used to serve the local dockworkers and ferry passengers in their droves years ago. Nowadays it’s a bit more of a sedate place (for Fleetwood) and has been opened-out to the point of feeling sparse and a bit gloomy, not helped by the dark blue paintwork; however there's a nicer light-infused raised area to the left with red banquettes which I made a beeline for. Of note are some nice old etched windows and a traditional full height wood servery remaining from days of yore (though as noted elsewhere, the pillars at the servery are a nuisance). Noted pool and darts with both getting used; I didn’t see the snooker table though! Four ales at the bar, Bombardier plus three more interesting ones; I went for the Saltaire Blonde (NBSS 3). Oh, and Syd Little runs the kitchen here - didn’t see him though. 6.5

This surprisingly large old pub has been opened out substantially, but the bar counter still has remnants of the sliding glass screens whose retention would have seen it included in Camra's inventory of historic interiors. It's still an interesting and pleasant pub, though perhaps has too many beers for the amount of custom they get in the winter months. I met some of my Luton Town mates for a beer or two pre-match (this time last year), and some of the beers we had were not really up to scratch. I still wouldn't mind returning next time we're in the same league as Fleetwood Town, though.
