The White Lion has been refurbished and is now a Mediterranean restaurant and bar called Essence and think you can still just call in for a drink.

The White Lion is a stand alone pub that is up a bit of an hill from the bottom of Darwen.
Once inside there were a couple of rooms and i had a drink in a decent room that was empty on my visit,this pub is a Thwaites tied house and there was one real ale on the bar this was Thwaites bitter and this was a decent drink.
