As mentioned below, this is a traditional GBG-listed multi-roomed boozer by Clitheroe Castle accessed via a pair of attractive stained glass doors with two sitting rooms and the bar located in the back room. All fell apart spectacularly at the bar – despite the place being rammed the cask wasn’t really shifting. I soon found out why as YSB by Saltaire Brewery didn’t fully clear (NBSS 2) and the Coach House Gunpowder Mild had something wrong with it (NBSS 1.5). As I was against the clock I decided not to argue the toss but left with a sour taste in my mouth. Certainly a lovely pub not in no way a GBG entry based on what I served-up. I diagnose the old classic of the place having too many ales on the go… 6.5

Brainy Pool left this review about New Inn

A wonderful unspoilt multi roomed pub. A few keg taps on display in the snug but the main bar is a shrine for a fine selection of ales. Blueberry bitter was on top form. Shame the two lads behind the bar were very much in the wrong job and the rest of the punters were sat outside at the front on a sunny afternoon, otherwise a perfect pub.

Old Boots left this review about New Inn

A splendid old fashioned multi room pub opposite the Castle. The two front rooms are just sitting rooms with the counter in a larger back room, all in more or less Victorian style. It’s local brews mainly on the nine pulls, especially from Moorhouses. There’s a narrow long beer garden at the back. Certainly a don’t miss when in Clitheroe.
