Just over 13 years since my last visit to this Wetherlodge. Very little has changed as far as I could see. The pub was fairly busy both inside and on the front patio on our early Saturday evening visit.
It feels much brighter and more modern than the more traditional branch of Wetherspoon's in the town centre, but I'm not sure it's worth the additional trek away from the centre. The usual 'spoon's cask ales were on - Greene King Abbot & Ruddles Best, Sharp's Doom Bar & Thornbridge Jaipur. Guests were Acorn Barnsley Bitter, Hawkshead Lakeland Gold & Moorhouse's Straw Dog. Ciders were Weston's Old Rosie & Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon.

Spoons hotel, located an oddly long way from the town centre and rail stations. Surprisingly large interior, wrapping in a C shape round a central bar. Colour scheme is copper, bronze and blue. Two guest cask on my visit but I plumped for a January sale 99p Ruddles which was good, as to be expected given how much was shifting (NBSS 3.5). It’s not a particularly memorable outlet but did a competent job.

a bit unusual to find a Wetherspoons in a suburban location like this. with the number of pubs and bars in this area it probably fits nicely into the circuit though. as a pub it's garbage to be honest, huge and sterile inside. that said it is friendly enough like everywhere in Wigan and the pensioners seem to love it.
