Chorley Phantom Drinker left this review about The Parkers Arms
This pub when I last visited was the worst pub I had ever been in. It was vile so with much trepidation I visited again to see how the place had changed with all the work that had been ongoing. The decor on the outside and inside of the place has been spruced up and the parlour type area actually looks very nice. There is one handpump on and the real beer was very acceptable. Bar staff were friendly and attentive a big plus again. So what let the place down? A very very loud techno sounding disco was on. ( Sat night) Good for the youngsters but for anyone above the age of 35 this would be a negative. I noticed a couple of couples sitting in the parlour type area who just looked uncomfortable with the racket and during the course of one beer all left. ( The type of customer who has the disposable income and should be encouraged) But the real downer is the toilets. On the last visit this was the most vile part. Sadly although not as bad its still not good and lets the place down. A lick of paint cant cover up what was something pretty dreadful and for me alot of work needs to be done in this area to bring the place up to somewhere that is worth going to. The Parkers is at that place where its certainly not the worst place to go in Chorley but it isnt a place I would choose yet to go. However that said the owners need to be thanked for taking the worst pub in the world and turning it into a passable pub. I will continue to visit just to give trade to an owner who is obviously trying. And these sort of owners need to be supported before all pubs become gastro nightmares or closed. I hope they dont just sit back and think they have done enough because a broadly neutral review would quickly become negative again.
