Carl Urmston left this review about Smithy Inn
A revelation- a truly traditional pub awaits, which I hadn't expected from a Thwaites place in a village in this part of the world. Carpeted and traditionally upholstered throughout, it is basically one room which retains the feel of a rustic village pub, which is rare these days, especially in this neck of the woods. Food is a big draw (and lives up to the hype) but gastrification has been admirably resisted, and one would not feel out of place popping in for a drink. The pub has various displays of local history and other pubby artefacts, including some awards for 'Best Christmas decorations' from the 90s. There is a restaurant extension which seems to indicate that the food operation is a large one, but this is traditionally furnished too. Thwaites bitter was its usual self but kept well, and staff were friendly and professional. I liked this one.
