I was born in this area and the pub was the local for my father and his father. It is almost fifty years since i last went into the pub on a New years day after we had played our uaual yearly football match against the pub regulars.The pub was then owned by the Wilsons Brewery and was a very busy loal.Now it has been gutted and has tables set out for food service none of which were being used. The pub is clean and looks very well from the outside and has a beer garden and car park, land gained by demolition of a row of cottages.This seems to be the the way pubs are going,but for me there are far to many and not enough trade.I prefer to remember this pub as the HARK to TOWLER were we spent many of our nights drinking good Wilsons cask beers.
