Thwaites pub in the Walmersley area of Bury. Unusually, a doorman was there to greet customers and ensure Covid measures. Not being local, he asked where I was from, trying to make sure I wasn't visiting from Lancashire!
The pub has a single, large room with a couple of TVs. Most of the staff and customers congregated around the one when they realised that there was a feature on the BBC about Bury Football Club. Monster trucks featured on the other TV.
All other customers were clearly regulars. 3 real ales - Original, Gold & IPA were supplemented by a real cider - Weston's Rosie's Pig Raspberry & Cucumber. As the only real cider I found in the 10 Greater Manchester pubs I tried, it was most welcome, in spite of the pub being slightly less than welcoming.
