Quite a remarkable place, Affetside. A small hamlet but steeped in history. On Watling Street, a roman road. A roadside medieval cross and this pub. Emblazoned with "since 1442" on the side. They can't expect us to believe this is the current pub.
A Hydes house - in the last two days, I can add this to the JW Lees and Holts pubs visited. The Quattro Special Bitter was the best pint out of the three.
A gastro pub. Queue £5 pints but I did like the sign in the garden pronouncing "Smoking and Drinking only". Presumably chat is banned in this particular corner.
