June 2014 Party of 11 Saturday 5pm. This 'pub' is a bit of an enigma. It has more space given over to eating than it does to drinking although there is a beer garden if the weather permits. The place is called the New Waggoner's now but has been under the new management for over a year and when we sussed out the place on a Sunday mid-day it was packed. So book your table before arriving. We did and we were so glad.
So to the menu. Your standard pub fayre but then there are a couple of unique combinations BUT whatever you do, make sure you take along an appitite. The portions are enormous! At first i thought the prices were about 10% higher than other eateries in the area but I had to reappraise that thought once I had seen the portions. My half a chicken was expertly deboned and still filled the plate. A colleague had Whale and Chips and they were not joking!! Everybody had a great meal and some struggled because they had partaken of the starters. Unfortunately, even I did not have room for desert and that is what I had been looking forward too. However, we will know for next time because we will certainly visit again the next walk we have in the area. Well recommended and well done to the place for offering great value for money.
